The Canadian-American trio Palaye Royale dropped a new single ‘umakemenotwannadie this past week from their upcoming EP ‘Songs For Sadness’, which is to be released on January 19th.

The band recently released an EP titled ‘Sextape’ back in December which featured a superb cover of Nine Inch Nails’ song ‘Closer’ (highly recommend a listen if you haven’t already). So fans are definitely excited for the additional music coming their way.

With ‘Songs For Sadness first single released, it looks to be taking a different path with ‘umakemenotwannadie’ serving gentler tones and an 80s synth sound. It is truly stunning in nature giving this sort of melancholic beauty, like a romantic dreamy feel outlined with a soft sadness.

Palaye Royale is a band I’m absolutely mad that I didn’t discover sooner. I heard them for the first time when I was at Download Festival last year. We’d gone down to the Opus stage and decided to hang out there for the rest of the afternoon waiting for Ghost to headline the stage.

In that time we saw some cracking bands on that stage and Palaye Royale was one of those.
I was instantly transfixed and with every song they played I quickly became a fan. Frontman Remington Leith had an immense amount of energy for what was singlehandedly one of the hottest days I’ve ever experienced in my life, but not even the ungodly heat could stop him from climbing stage equipment and crowd surfing in a blow up boat.

I really hope to see these guys live again this year, especially since bingeing their back catalogue & getting to learn more of their music. This is a band that my little teenage heart would’ve adored many years back. Listening to them makes me somewhat nostalgic. I cannot wait for ‘Songs For Sadness’ to release on the 19th.

I have a feeling I won’t be disappointed.

will you love me forever?
will we always be together?
because your sex is getting me high,
you make me not wanna die.
you make me not wanna die.
