Peach PRC, real name Shaylee Curnow, is an Australian singer-songwriter who is truly making her mark in the pop genre. The 26 year old pop-star started her journey on social media back in 2019 on TikTok which to this day has garnered quite the following of 2.2 million followers. Over recent years Peach PRC became recognisable for her iconic pink persona and looking like a real life Shirley Barber fairy. So in the wake of her turning to the dark side & dyeing her bubblegum hair to brown (of which looks absolutely gorgeously the way) I just had to get on here and review the Manic Dream Pixie era before we enter a new one!
’Manic Dream Pixie’ was released in April 2023 and debuted at number 1 on the Australian ARIA Albums Chart. The album also received nominations for ‘Best Pop Release’, ‘Best Cover Art’, and ‘Best Video’ at the ARIA Music Awards. It was at the TikTok Awards 2023 that Peach PRC won ‘Music Act of the Year’.

‘Manic Dream Pixie’ includes the songs ‘Kinda Famous’, ‘F U Goodbye’, and ‘Loved You Before’. & if there’s one thing Peach PRC does well it’s make an insanely catchy song. Whether it’s an upbeat number or slowed down and heartbreaking I’m guaranteed to be singing it for hours after. ‘Perfect For You’ does a fantastic job interpolating Paris Hilton’s “Stars Are Blind’ to which Paris Hilton herself even acknowledged through TikTok’s showing her love for the song.
’Dear Inner Child’ is a beautiful song in reflection to her younger self. With lyrics “as i’m getting older, I learned that I was only trying my best” the song dives into the subject of forgiveness and accepting things from her past and childhood. “and someone put a place down a little too loud. Now I still flinch whenever I hear the sound” shows how these little triggers can stay with you but she later goes on to sing “a plate is nothing but a plate. Even if it breaks, we can throw it away” which implies growth and healing of being able to get past that previous anxiety.
My favourite song on the record ‘Favourite Person’ is the most underrated song on the whole album. Peach’s vocals are stunning and it’s probably my favourite chorus she’s written. Lyrically and melodically.
On the 5th January Peach PRC uploaded an Instagram post with her freshly dyed brown hair captioned ‘fairy season is over. it’s the year of the siren’. I’ve no idea what’s in store for us musically, will there be a change in music style too? Who knows. No matter what I’m super excited for this new era.
As someone who has been following Peach over the years online, it’s honestly a joy to get to witness her grow as an artist and gain the recognition she truly deserves. She’s a fantastic artist and I can’t wait to see where it all takes her because I don’t see her going away anytime soon.
