SET IT OFF’S Buzzing
Last Night at the Electric Ballroom in London.

American rock band Set It Off finished up their last night of their European and UK tour at the Electric Ballroom in Camden on Saturday 1st March. With support from the fantastic TSS, Call Me Amour and North Point the evening started and ended with an absolute bang. Shoutout to such a great crowd too who were so much fun and great energy the whole time.

TSS (also known as The Sunday Sadness) are a french modern metal band with a super cool aesthetic. I’ve have read them to be described as a “gothic/k-pop aesthetic” and I totally see it and absolutely love it. As soon as they hit the stage I was obsessed with the fits they wore, with the baggy black trousers and mega chunky boots. Singer Matthieu Kirby was rocking a corset like piece which made for some fantastic shots. & their music is as cool as their look, playing songs like ‘Would You Be My Therapy?’, ‘Fantasize’, ‘Someone’ and ‘Killing Me’. I highly appreciate Set It Off having 3 support acts that night because it meant I got to discover 3 fantastic bands I hadn’t listened to yet.

Call Me Amour take to the stage with ‘Happy Hell’ from their newest EP which was released just this February. Instantly there’s high energy and enthusiasm from these guys and I’ve definitely been listening to them a lot since. Other songs on the setlist were ‘Chasing Bugs’, ‘Good Day’, ‘Bloom’ and ‘Girl On The Wall’. Call Me Amour are a band I need to see on a Slam Dunk festival line-up because they are perfect for it. I can see them gaining a lot more fans if given the chance and I actually think they’re going to be a big name within the scene in the next few years. Having supported You Me At Six on their tour last February, I think they’re absolutely capable of bigger crowds & venues, singer Harry Radford certainly knows how to work a crowd and I’d love to see more of them soon.
Call Me Amour have announced a UK/EU tour is on it’s way so I really hope to catch them again within the UK.

American pop-punk band, Point North, are up next starting with their song ‘WORLD vs PEACE’. Following suit with the incredible & dynamic stage presence, Point North kept the crowd going wild whilst being 3 bands into the evening. Another new song ‘Bring Me Down’ was on the setlist between the likes of ‘Like A Weapon’, ‘Into The Dark’, ‘Below The Belt’ and ‘Safe and Sound’. After having mentioned that I need to see Call Me Amour on the line-up for Slam Dunk it’s actually come to my attention that Point North will be playing the festival this May. These are absolutely the kind of bands that deserve their spots on these festival line-ups. Fingers crossed I catch them whilst they’re there!

Previously in the evening, singer Jon Lundin approached the stage between sets to ask the crowd to help prank headliners Set It Off by facing the back of the room so that the band would be met with a crowd of heads facing the wrong direction as they come out. Once the time come and Set It Off were due to come on, the guys joined us down in the pit/barricade with utter excitement as everyone in the room had turned to face the back of the room. The bands intro played as we all stood (photographers too) facing away till the guys came out and with laughter in his voice Cody Carson (Set It Off) shouts for us all to turn around.

Set It Off burst onto the stage with ‘Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing’ sending the crowd into a frenzied state. Approaching it’s 10 year anniversary, the guys rerecorded and released it again in October last year, the song is one of their most popular with an insane amount of plays on Spotify with the newer version already creeping up fast in numbers. With it being the last night on their tour in the UK the fans truly showed up and sang at the top of their lungs. Set It Off went on to play more such as ‘Fake Ass Friends’, ‘Punching Bag’, ‘Why Worry’, ‘I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead’, and ‘Killer In The Mirror’. Throughout the night were special guests joining in with songs, with even drummer Maxx Danziger swapping place with singer Cody Carson whilst he in turn played drums. After being down in the crowd I’d made my way upstairs to the balcony to shoot some photos from above & it was amazing getting to see the fans in the crowd having the best time no matter where they were stood in the venue. It was fun getting to see the pits forming, people looking after each other if they fall, seeing crowd surfers flying toward the front, and toward the end of the night a canon raining confetti down on everyone.
Having expressed their awe for the London crowd and being the loudest on the tour, the night had to sadly draw to a close but it's safe to say this was one of my favourite gigs I’ve been to for the atmosphere being one of the best and the music was just fantastic all night long.
Hats off to Set It Off because they know how to put on an incredible show.

If you’re in the US, you can find Set It Off on tour supporting Hollywood Undead and Tech N9ne throughout the whole of April and into May.
