So Long, night one in
London.

by Nicola O'Connell

Last night Taylor Swift started her string of shows at the Wembley Stadium in London and it was one of the most spectacular things I have ever witnessed. The sheer amount of work that has gone into the production of the Era’s Tour is clearly incredible. After having the absolute honour of getting to attend and review the night I feel like the words I have to describe the night could not compare to how amazing it actually was.

With a night full of stunning, sequinned bodysuits and beautiful gowns, Swift proves she truly can walk in a room and make the whole place shimmer. The aesthetic for every era was impeccable with fantastic stage design and I cannot forget to mention the talented crew of dancers Taylor Swift has on board with her throughout the night. During songs like “Lover” I found myself transfixed on the dancers as they partnered up and twirled about and around Taylor whilst she played guitar.

Alongside her 40 odd songs on her regular setlist of the night, Swift performs secret songs which has her Swifties theorising which fan favourites from her catalogue they will be graced with on the night. The crowd erupted into screams of excitement when Swift announced she would be singing a song not yet performed live and it was ‘The Black Dog’. So for night one, we were given a mash-up of ‘Hits Different’ with ‘Death By A Thousand Cuts’ and ‘The Black Dog’, ‘Come Back… Be Here’ & ‘Maroon’.

Following a stunning performance of her song ‘Champagne Problems’ the whole audience erupted into the loudest and longest applause and cheering I’ve ever witnessed. Taylor stood in awe looking around the entire stadium whilst the endless cheers rolled in, and just when you thought it was coming to a close the crowd picked up and went louder than I even thought possible. Taylor and the whole crew are more than deserving of such a standing ovation for putting on such a show and entertaining non-stop for over 3 hours.

All I can say is even if you’re not a fan of Taylor Swift, if you saw this show you would at least leave with respect for the workmanship that goes into it and the fact she’s repeating it night after night leaves me even more so speechless. Climbing the stairs outside the stadium was enough for me, a 3.5 hour show of singing and dancing? Taylor Swift is a trooper.

For anyone with tickets to the rest of the tour, I truly hope you have the best time ever. The show was beyond my Wildest Dreams and I’m so glad I got to be there to see it in person myself. You really are in for the night of your lives… Ready For It?
